Prayers for times of joy

Joy is worth bringing to God too. These prayers celebrate good days, with verses that give the praise back to Him.

Joy in this day

This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!Psalm 118:24 (World English Bible)

Lord, today I feel joy, and I know it comes from You.

Let me enjoy it fully, without fear of losing it. Help me share it with someone who needs it, and remember this moment on harder days.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A peaceful joy

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.John 14:27 (World English Bible)

Jesus, I feel joy today. Let Your peace give it depth and steadiness. Help me enjoy this moment without grasping at it or rushing to the next one. May the joy I receive make me more present and kind to those around me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A joyful, discerning heart

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.James 1:5 (World English Bible)

God, I feel joy and ask for Your direction. Help me recognize which opportunities deserve a yes and which need more thought. Let my joy make me generous without taking me beyond my limits. Guide me toward what will bear good fruit.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Comfort within a joyful moment

I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.Hebrews 13:5 (World English Bible)

Jesus, I feel joy and ask for the comfort of Your presence alongside it. Help me enjoy this moment as someone held in Your care. Let celebration have room for rest, honesty, and tenderness. Keep my heart receptive to love as well as delight.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Joy and peace together

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.Romans 15:13 (World English Bible)

God of hope, I feel joyful today, and I am glad to bring it to You. Fill me with joy and peace together, so that this happiness is not jittery or fragile. Let it rest on trust in You rather than on everything staying the same. May Your Spirit make this gladness steady enough to share.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Glad in this day

This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!Psalm 118:24 (World English Bible)

Lord, this is a day You have made, and I am glad in it. Help me stay present to its good things instead of measuring them against what might come next. Settle my heart so that my joy is calm and wide awake. Let me notice, savor, and give thanks, without hurrying through what You have given.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Gladness that grows roots

You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their new wine are increased.Psalm 4:7 (World English Bible)

Holy Spirit, You have put gladness in my heart, deeper than any abundance could give. Let this joy grow roots instead of racing ahead. Keep me from treating it as something I might lose at any moment. Give me the peace to receive it slowly, laugh freely, and rest in Your goodness today.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Joy that becomes strength

Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”Nehemiah 8:10 (World English Bible)

Lord, I feel joyful, and I want this joy to become strength rather than a passing high. Let Your joy steady me for what is ahead. Help me share it generously, remembering those who have less to celebrate today. Make this gladness a source of energy for kindness, service, and faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
