Prayers when you feel lost

When I don’t know the way

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5–6 (World English Bible)

God, I don’t know which way to go, and every option feels uncertain.

I choose to trust You more than my own understanding. Make the path clear, close the wrong doors, and give me peace about the right one.

Following Your lead

The LORD is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.Psalm 23:1 (World English Bible)

Jesus, lead me as a shepherd leads someone dearly loved. Help me recognize the paths that bring life, both to me and to the people my choices affect.

Keep me teachable. If I need to change direction, give me the humility to do so. If I need to keep going, give me a steady heart. Walk with me in the next step.

In Your name, Amen.

Mercy as I find my way

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.1 John 1:9 (World English Bible)

Jesus, I feel lost and ask for forgiveness. Where I have chosen poorly, help me recognize it honestly. Show me what can be put right and what I can learn. Let Your mercy become a place from which I can find a better direction.

Your eye on my path

I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you.Psalm 32:8 (World English Bible)

Father, I have lost my bearings and I do not know where I am headed. You say You will instruct me and counsel me with Your eye on me. Let that be enough to calm my heart today. I do not need the whole map if I am being watched over by the One who made the roads.

Listening for the way

And when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”Isaiah 30:21 (World English Bible)

Holy Spirit, I have wandered so far that I hardly know where I am. Give me strength to stop and listen for Your voice saying, this is the way. Quiet the noise that confuses me. When I hear You, give me the courage to turn, even if turning means admitting I was heading in the wrong direction.

Morning without direction

Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.Psalm 143:8 (World English Bible)

Father, I feel directionless, and each morning I wake unsure of where I am heading. Let me hear of Your loving kindness in the morning. I lift my soul to You. Strengthen my trust before I strengthen my plans. Show me the way I should go, and give me resolve to follow it when it becomes clear.

Listening for Your way

Holy Spirit, I keep looking for direction and finding fog. Thank You that You still speak, sometimes quietly, sometimes in the morning light. I am grateful for every nudge I have received before, even the ones I only understood later. Tune my ears to Your voice, and keep me thankful as I listen for the way.

Faithful God, my spirit feels overwhelmed, and I cannot see my path. Thank You that You know it even when I do not. I am grateful that my confusion does not confuse You. Show me Your way at a pace I can follow, and let thanks steady me while I wonder where to go.
